SSC CGL 2018 Tier-I Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-I exam is an online mode of examination having 4 sections in total. The total marks allotted for all the sections is 200 and the total time allotted for the completion of all the sections of Tier-I exam is 60 minutes. A cumulative time of 80 minutes is allotted to physically handicapped students. 0.5 marks will be deducted from every question that is attempted wrong by a candidate in SSC CGL 2018 exam.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier-II Exam Pattern

Tier-II exam has a total mark of 200. A total of 100 questions are asked in each section with 200 questions asked in the English Language Section. A time limit of 2 hours is provided to the candidate to complete each section of SSC CGL 2018 Tier-II Exam. The cumulative time to complete Tier-II exam is increased to 2 hours 40 minutes in case of physically handicapped students. 0.25 marks is deducted as penalty for attempting a question wrong.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier III Syllabus

Tier-III of SSC CGL 2018 exam is a descriptive exam to test the written skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. The mode of examination is offline and students are required to write essays, précis, application, letter etc. in this exam. The exam carries 100 marks and the time allotted for the same is 60 minutes. The time allotted for candidates belonging to PWD category is increased to 80 minutes. Tier-III paper is given by specific candidates who are interested only for the post of “Statistical Investigator Grade II” & “Compiler”.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier IV Syllabus

Tier-IV examination comprises of couple of skill sets required for certain Government Posts all over the country.

Physical standards for the post of Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN Sub- Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation)

Physical standards for the post of Inspector

  1. Central Excise
  2. Examiner
  3. Preventive Officer
  4. Inspector in CBN (Central Bureau of Narcotics)
  5. Sub-Inspector in CBN (Central Bureau of Narcotics)
  6. Male Candidates:

(i) Physical Standards:Height :157.5 cms.Note: Height  relaxable by 5 cms. In the case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes.Chest: 81 cms. (Fully expanded with a minimum expanses of 5 cms)

(ii) Physical Test:Walking: 1600 metres in 15 minutes.Cycling: 8 Kms. In 30 minutes.

Female Candidates:

  1. i) Physical standards (Minimum):
  • Height: 152 cms.
  • Weight: 48 Kgs.

Note: Height relaxable by 2.5 cms and Weight by 2 Kgs. for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese and Members of Scheduled Tribes

  1. ii) Physical Test:

Walking: 1 Km. in 20 minutes.Cycling: 3 Kms. in 25 minutes.Note:

  1. For some posts ( Inspector Central Excise, Examiner and Preventive Officer) persons with disabilities will have to meet the physical standards i.e. Height, Chest and Weight.
  2. For Orthopedic-ally disabled candidates the following relaxation in Physical Test is allowed

(a) The test of “Walking” shall not be insisted in case of OL and OAL categories.(b) The test of “Cycling” shall not be insisted in case of OA, OL and OAL categories.

  1. Physical standards for the Post of Sub- Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation:
  1. a) Height:

For men – 165 cms.For women – 150 cms. (Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms.)

  1. b) Chest : 76 cms: With expansion (There shall be no such requirement in case of female candidates)
  1. c) Vision :

Eye-sight (with or without glasses)Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye. Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.

  1. Physical standards for the Post of Sub- Inspector in National Investigation Agency:
  1. a) Height

For men – 170 cms.For women – 150 cms. (Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms.)

  1. b) Chest : 76 cms. with expansion (There shall be no such requirement in case of female candidates)
  1. c) Vision :

Eye-sight (with or without glasses)Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye. Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.
